Topic 1

During pandemic period, online food ordering is trending. Therefore, I have carefully selected 2 apps which are Grab Food and WhyQ Food Delivery to elaborate one of which meets appropriate usability and user experience goals, and one of which does not.

In this post, I am seeking the following core values of the application:

v      Effectiveness

v      Efficiency

v      Safety

v      Utility

v      Learnability

v      Memorability

In grab app’s home page, there are menu categories which is easy to navigate. Entitled food rewards are at the top to enjoy the vouchers and offers which provides an appropriate set of functions to carry out their tasks without navigating further steps.

In WhyQ app’s home page, there are duplicate search engines at the top and bottom of the app.

In Picture 2, grab has the option to add items from the selected restaurant which develop  the system’s efficiency. There is no option to add items in WhyQ CART, so user need to search the restaurant and  select the delivery Date and Time again that impoverish the efficiency and memorability.

Picture 4
In picture 4, Grab app enriches utility in search result with additional information estimated arrival time, distance, rating and delivery fee. On the other hand, in WhyQ, information is imperfect for user to decide and cancel button is redundant. The design incorporates several redundancies.
Picture 5

For safety wise, in picture5 the way of handling in grab is in order. Because there is no default selection of size choice and Add to Basket button is disabled. This design is clearly intended to let user know the procedures before adding item to the cart.

In WhyQ app, default selection of size choice is Large and “Add To Cart” button is enabled. The design is weaken the safety compare to grab. Additionally, the description of additional note text color is red which is leading to undesirable aspects and terms of text is fierce and user may have feeling of scaredness.
